Description

NGC 7635, the Bubble Nebula, is an emission nebula in Cassiopeia located about 7,100 light years from Earth discovered in 1787 by William Herschel.  The bubble is created by the stellar wind from the massive central star SAO 20575.  It is located near a large molecular cloud that glows due to the high amount of ionizing radiation given off by the star.  The nearby M52 cluster is composed of about 200 stars approximately 35 million years old and 5000 light years away.
